Not a ton to report today, although I needed to express my excitement to SOMEONE and the people in my normal life don't get nearly as riled up about these things as we/you all do. :)
My point of excitement today? I have finally found the answer to formatting my DBL (dear birthparents letter). Powerpoint!!!!! Thank you to my very lovely and creative friend Angela who pointed me in the exact right direction with this one.
Our DBL needs to be printed in hard copy on 8.5 x 11 paper, which poses a bit of a problem in terms of how to merge photos and text into a pretty format. The samples that we looked at from the adoption agency were ok, but were missing the pizzazz that we were looking for. I wanted something that would allow me to get creative with text and photo placement and would allow me to have equal awesomeness to display both our photos and our written story. I got some good suggestions from others, but honestly, as expected, Angela pulled through with the best recommendation of them all. I am so so so excited about this!
So what this means for Bob and I this weekend is getting our hands into old photos (we have thirteen years worth of photo albums of our time spent together!). I am looking forward to this part, as I knew I would. It will be a neat walk down memory lane of our time spent growing up as adults together.
Things are shaping up! One step at a time.

SO happy to hear this update! Have fun this weekend picking out your photos! :) :)
ReplyDeleteVery glad to hear that you had a breakthrough on how to format the letter! I can't imagine having to chose photos and organize them knowing that they will be what the birthmother sees! Wishing you lots of luck as your journey continues!
